Ingredients

  • 1 cup+ cubed watermelon
  • 1 cup+ coconut water

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Cut off the rind of your watermelon and chop it into cubes.
  2. Step 2: Fill a Ninja Creami pint container with the diced watermelon up to the max fill line. Pour coconut water into the same container up to the max fill line.
  3. Step 3: Secure the lid on the pint container and place it on a level surface in the freezer overnight, for 12-24 hours.
  4. Step 4: When ready to spin, soften the container by microwaving it for 30 seconds or by running the outside under hot water for a couple of minutes. Place the pint in the Ninja Creami and spin on the sorbet setting. The lite ice cream setting also works well.
  5. Step 5: If the sorbet appears dry or chunky after the first spin, simply respin until the texture becomes smooth and creamy.

Tips & Variations

  • For added flavor, sprinkle in a little fresh mint or a splash of lime juice before freezing.
  • Use ripe, sweet watermelon for the best natural sweetness without added sugar.
  • If you don’t have coconut water, plain water can be substituted, though coconut water adds a subtle tropical taste.

Storage

Store any leftover sorbet in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one week. To serve again, let it soften slightly at room temperature for a few minutes, then give it a quick spin in the Ninja Creami to restore its creamy texture.

FAQs

Can I use fresh watermelon juice instead of cubes?

It’s best to use cubed watermelon to maintain the texture and ensure proper freezing in the Ninja Creami. Juice alone may not freeze evenly.

Can I prepare this sorbet without a Ninja Creami?

While this recipe is designed for the Ninja Creami, you can try freezing the mixture in an ice tray and blending it afterward for a similar texture, though the result may be less creamy.

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 cup+ cubed watermelon
  • 1 cup+ coconut water

Instructions

  1. Prepare Watermelon: Cut off the rind of your watermelon carefully and chop the flesh into cubes, ensuring you have at least one cup of diced watermelon.
  2. Fill Container: Fill a Ninja Creami pint container with the cubed watermelon up to the max fill line, then pour coconut water into the container, filling it to the max fill line as well.
  3. Freeze: Secure the lid on the pint container and place it on a level surface inside your freezer. Freeze the mixture overnight for 12 to 24 hours until fully frozen solid.
  4. Prepare for Spinning: When ready to process, soften the contents by microwaving the pint container for 30 seconds or by running the outside of the container under hot water for a couple of minutes to make it easier to spin.
  5. Spin the Sorbet: Place the pint into the Ninja Creami machine and select the sorbet setting. Alternatively, you can use the lite ice cream setting with equally good results.
  6. Re-spin if Needed: If the sorbet is too dry or chunky after the first spin, re-spin it to achieve a smooth and creamy texture.

Notes

  • Ensure the watermelon is seedless or remove seeds before dicing to avoid chunks in the sorbet.
  • If your sorbet is too icy after the first spin, multiple spins can improve the texture.
  • You can substitute coconut water with plain water, but coconut water adds extra natural sweetness and electrolytes.
  • Use fresh, ripe watermelon for the best flavor.
  • This recipe requires freezing overnight, so plan ahead for preparation.
