Ingredients

Scale

Eggs

  • 6 eggs (hard boiled, cooked for 10 minutes, peeled and cut in half)
  • 2 raw eggs (beaten in a mixing bowl)

Filling

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon pickles (finely chopped or use relish)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Sea salt & pepper to taste

Breading

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter crackers (blended into crumbs)

For Cooking

  • Oil spray or melted butter (for brushing)

Garnish

  • Dill (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg yolks with mayonnaise, finely chopped pickles or relish, Dijon mustard, sea salt, and pepper. Mash well with a fork until the mixture turns into a smooth puree.
  2. Set up Breading Stations: Arrange three separate dishes in this order: one with flour, one with the beaten raw eggs, and one with a mixture of bread crumbs and crushed butter cracker crumbs. This setup will help evenly coat the egg whites.
  3. Bread the Egg Whites: Take each halved, cooked egg white and first coat it in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with the bread crumb and cracker crumb mixture.
  4. Air Fry the Eggs: Place the breaded egg whites into the air fryer basket or dish. Lightly spray or brush them with oil or melted butter. Air fry at 390°F (199°C) for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until they turn a golden brown and crisp.
  5. Assemble the Deviled Eggs: Once air fried, spoon or pipe the prepared egg yolk filling into the egg white halves. Garnish with dill or other fresh greens if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy the crispy, creamy delight.

Notes

  • Make sure eggs are cold and well peeled before cutting in half to keep whites intact.
  • Use either relish or finely chopped pickles for different texture variations.
  • You can substitute butter crackers with plain salted crackers or panko crumbs for crunch.
  • Adjust salt and pepper to taste in the filling mixture for perfect seasoning.
  • For extra crispiness, you can double dip the breading by repeating the egg and crumb coating once more.
  • Serving immediately after air frying ensures the best texture; the coating may soften if left too long.
