Sausage Patties
- 1 lb. ground breakfast sausage (or 4 sausage patties)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Omelette
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup (200ml) whole milk
- 4 tbsp. softened butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Pancakes
- 1 ¼ cups (160g) flour
- 1 ½ tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- ⅔ cup (150ml) milk
- 1 egg
- 2 7/8 tbsp. (40g) melted butter
- 2 tbsp. maple syrup
Additional Toppings
- 6 slices of crispy bacon
- 4 slices American cheese
- Form Sausage Patties: Place the ground sausage in a bowl and gently massage with your hands. Form into 4 meat patties and season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Cook Sausage: Heat a grill pan over medium heat. Cook the sausage patties for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
- Make Egg Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the 6 eggs and 1 cup whole milk until fully combined.
- Cook Omelettes: Butter a large pan and pour in one-quarter of the egg mixture. Cook on low heat for a few minutes on one side, season with salt, then carefully flip and cook for another minute.
- Shape Omelettes: Gently fold the omelette into thirds and then fold into a square shape toward the top. Remove from the pan. Repeat until all egg mixture is used, making 4 omelettes.
- Prepare Pancake Batter: In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and maple syrup. Add wet ingredients to dry and mix until smooth and thick.
- Cook Pancakes: Butter a non-stick pan lightly and pour 2-3 tablespoons of batter for each pancake. Cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook another 1-2 minutes until golden. Make 8 pancakes in total.
- Cook Bacon: While pancakes cook, crisp the bacon slices in a pan or microwave if using pre-cooked bacon.
- Assemble McGriddles: Place one warm pancake on a plate, add a slice of American cheese, then a sausage patty on top of the cheese. Next, layer the folded omelette and a few slices of crispy bacon.
- Finish Sandwich: Top with a second pancake to form the McGriddle. Repeat assembly to make 4 sandwiches and serve warm.
Notes
- Use a non-stick pan and butter it lightly for cooking pancakes and omelettes to prevent sticking.
- Adjust the heat to low when cooking eggs to avoid burning and to cook them gently for a creamy texture.
- For quicker bacon preparation, pre-cooked microwave bacon can be used.
- Feel free to substitute American cheese with your preferred meltable cheese.
- Make sure sausage patties are cooked thoroughly for food safety.
