Oreo Balls
- 36 regular Oreo cookies
- 1 (8-ounce) package brick-style cream cheese, softened (226 grams)
Chocolate Coating
- 16 ounces chocolate (semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate all work great) (452 grams)
- Reserved Oreo crumbs for topping (1 to 2 tablespoons)
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to keep the Oreo balls from sticking.
- Crush Oreos: Add the Oreo cookies to a blender or food processor and pulse until you have fine crumbs. Transfer the crumbs to a large mixing bowl and reserve 1 to 2 tablespoons for sprinkling later.
- Mix with Cream Cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs. Using a handheld mixer, blend together until fully combined and smooth, scraping the sides as needed to ensure even mixing.
- Form Balls: Scoop out one-tablespoon sized portions of the mixture and roll into balls with your hands. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet. Once all are shaped, freeze the baking sheet for at least 20 minutes to firm up the balls.
- Melt Chocolate: Chop the chocolate and place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20 to 30 second increments, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth.
- Dip Oreo Balls: Using a fork or dipping tool, coat each Oreo ball completely in melted chocolate. Place back onto the baking sheet and sprinkle the reserved cookie crumbs atop each ball immediately for garnish.
- Chill Until Set: Refrigerate the chocolate-coated Oreo balls for at least 20 minutes or until the chocolate hardens. Serve chilled and enjoy these creamy, chocolatey treats!
Notes
- Use a handheld mixer to ensure the cream cheese and crumbs mix smoothly without lumps.
- Freezing the balls before dipping helps maintain their shape and prevents melting.
- You can experiment with different types of chocolate—white, milk, or semi-sweet—for varied flavor profiles.
- Store finished Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Feel free to decorate the tops with sprinkles, colored sugar, or drizzle with contrasting chocolate for a decorative touch.
